Faceless Girl

Repensky Art 1

Faceless girl

in a ballroom dress,

pearls around her neck.

Faceless girl

in her ruffled dress.

Faceless girl

with pale skin

and no face.

She floats eerily

like a silver ghost.

Her dark hair cascades

down her back,

falling to her waist in gorgeous curls.

Her feet hide

beneath her dress,

hands joined behind her back.

No one can touch her.

She doesn’t feel;

She doesn’t see

touch

taste

smell

hear.

The faceless girl

has no emotion.

She does not feel

sadness

happiness

anger.

She is not capable

of suffering,

of dying,

of experiencing life.

She doesn’t speak.

Speaking

is not for her.

She has no mouth,

no lips,

no teeth,

no smile.

No way

to express her feelings.

The faceless girl

does not see.

She cannot see.

She does not have eyes.

No pupils

no green

no blue

brown

gray

amber.

No iris

no lens

to process the world

around her.

Impossible

to see color

people

sunsets

stars

beauty.

Faceless girl,

in a ballroom dress.

Faceless girl,

pearls around her neck,

ruffles on her dress.

Dark hair curled to perfection,

pale skin searching for sun.

Faceless girl,

the face that could have been,

the girl who could have lived.
